Three

After two years living abroad, and some intermittent get-togethers, COVID-19 brought the perfect excuse for both of them to reach out again.

They have been into each other for over six years. They have kissed, they’ve gone out. They’ve shared many stories. They were friends but they had this spark, this lust, this deep desire.

However, every time one of them took the lead to make the move, it was bad timing. Either she was with someone or he wasn’t looking for something serious. Either she relocated or he was in love with another woman. Either he wasn’t emotionally available or she was ‘living la vida loca’. Every time something new happened; the odds were always against them.

Inimaginable, a pandemic was born and it forced them to stop and reconsider everything. With all that thinking, the rush of feelings, the imperative need of going back to the basics; they noticed they wanted to know from each other, listen to each other, see each other. Most importantly: they realized how much they’ve truly missed one another.

So, he texted her one night. She called him the next. He FaceTimed her the one after that. And suddenly, without thinking it too much, they were talking ‘til falling asleep every single night. They were falling in love and they didn’t wanna stop it.

Quarantine was in place. They were miles and miles away. But now, timing was right and distance was bringing them together.
