Farewell

“You’re a burden” – he said.

“And that’s the truth” – he added.

“So, there you have it” – he yelled.

An immense wave of profound sadness invaded her body.

Holding back tears she asked, “is there anything else you wanna add?”

“No, nothin’ else” – he answered.

“Ok, then. I have nothing to say to you either” – she replied.

Softly and calmly, she took the phone away from her ear and held it in front of her face while the bright screen kept counting the time they were spending in this call. She took a deep breath and with her index finger firmly pressed the red ‘hang up’ button. It was a hard choice. In that instant she knew, she will never ever allow him back into her life.
